England Coast Path (Cumbria): Harrington to Whitehaven

Thick low cloud in the Lake District today, so I had a little outing along the coast by train and a pleasant walk along a recently opened section of the England Coast Path.

A train makes its way very slowly along the coastal railway with its very low speed limits – although there are passenger trains, the reality is that it is kept open solely for the trains to Sellafield, where speed is not an issue

A high quality cycle path runs below the cliffs alongside the railway here
