Cross Fell

A walk to the highest point of the Pennines – somewhere I’d long had in mind to visit, but never quite managed to fit in.

Heading up Littledale, initially onto the flank of Grumply Hill
PW is Pennine Way, but I’m not sure what Omega represents here. Slightly unusually, the crosspaths isn’t at the col (which is Tees Head, the source of the River Tees) but somewhat above it on the slopes of Cross Fell. Here I turn left and join PW for the final stretch to the summit plateau.
The cross-shaped shelter on top of Cross Fell is an impressive construction
Heading down, just about in Ardale but staying well above the stream and then turning south back towards Kirkland.
Almost at Kirkland, and a look back at the descent route
