Woolpit Steam

The Woolpit Steam fair each June is (despite nowadays being Wetherden rather than Woolpit) a feature of the calendar each year. We’ve been once before, but it seemed a while ago, and on a hot June day we decided it was about time we went again. It’s one of those things that I really want to enjoy more than I actually do – in principle I love the idea, but in practice it leaves me slightly underwhelmed.

The traction engines are the focus for many people, including us – there’s something so special about them.
A steam car
Big saws being driven by traction engine are always fun
A parade in the main ring
The slow traction engine race had number 9 get very close to us!

An enjoyable afternoon and I’m glad we went – but we’ll give it a good few years before we go again, I suspect.
