Welsh Highland Railway

In March 2002 we visited the Welsh Highland Railway when it ran only as far as Waunfawr, so with the route now complete throughout, it was about time for another visit.

Number 138, former South African Railways NGG16 Class Garratt locomotive, built in 1958 and entered service on the WHR in 1997.

At the far end, Porthmadog Harbour station, on a somewhat dreary day. We had time for a wander through the town and for some lunch before coming back for the return journey.
